This showy bee balm, hailing from Westacre Gardens in Norfolk UK, is distinguished by its saturated purple color. That's due to not only the pinkish-purple tubular flowers but to the darker purple bracts as well. Mildew Resistant! With up to 20 two inch florets per head, each flower seems to be its own purple fireworks display. Reaching a full 3' in height, with light green, fragrant leaves providing an effective color contrast, this bee balm begins blooming in mid-summer and continues well into the fall. This clump-forming mint family member's flowers not only attract bees but hummingbirds as well. It is best planted in multiples for an especially colorful show and to attract a steady stream of pollinators. It makes an excellent choice for a large container and a valuable addition to a medicinal garden bed. Plant in full sun in fertile, well-drained soil. Cut to the ground in winter to promote strong spring growth. Deer resistant.
