Exquisitely fragrant! This original S. African species Freesia caused a sensation for its intense fragrance when it was introduced into cultivation in 1878. Freesia alba was then used as a parent for commonly available modern hybrids, but sadly the original fabulous fragrance was greatly diminished. Now you can enjoy this sweetest of Freesias – so SIMPLE to grow and a prolific bloomer to 12" tall and spreading to 2' across. Freesias grow during the Fall and Winter and burst into bloom in Spring. A vigorous bloomer, the 1" white flowers often show a purple and/or yellow markings on the lower petal. Ours thrive happily at the edge of our beds where the drainage is great or in containers. Summer dormant. Bulbs can be lifted in Winter in colder climes (do Google). Self sows! Hardy to 20° F. Deer resistant!
