An explosion of star-shaped white flowers in late Spring! 4-6” panicles of nodding, fragrant .75” flowers smother the plant in May or June for a glorious display that lasts 2-4 weeks. This durable deciduous shrub grows quickly to 6-10’ tall and wide with arching branches covered with 4” dark green, toothed ovate leaves, the tiny hairs on both sides leading to its common name of “Fuzzy Deutzia”. Exfoliating brown bark adds another element of interest. Deer resistant and adaptable to a range of light conditions and soils, this Japanese native can blend in with other shrubs or be used as a focal point for that month of intense flowering. Bees will love the flowers. Plant in fertile well-drained soil. Can be safely pruned as it regenerates quickly. Deer resistant.
