A plant that has gotten much attention in our nursery when it is in bloom. A relative of the more commonly grown “Princess Flower”, T. heteromalla has darker and bluer flowers which are nicely set off by the red flower stems. Each flower spike gets to be 18” long with many blooms on each one. Blooms summer thru Fall. In addition to the flowers is the nice foliage - Bold, felty leaves are covered with soft hairs that give the plant a silvery sheen in some lights. Fast growing to 10’ tall and 5-8’ wide. From Brazil.
