Zero fuss, tough, long lived and good looking year around, you never have to worry over this evergreen member of the Iris family. I’ve grown it for 10 years and all I ever do is strip away a few old leaves once a year. To 2’ x 2’, it’s a great choice for part shade, flowering in Summer and Fall with lots of lovely 1-1/2”, Wedgewood blue, starry blooms atop upright stems. With its fairly dense clump of strap-like evergreen foliage, it retains its attractiveness all year, making a nice foliage clump even when not in bloom. Native to Australia as well as tropical America, it is also drought tolerant, only requiring an occasional deep watering during extended heat spells to keep it looking swell. Rich, well-drained soil for best show and makes a fine container plant too.
