This easy to grow variegated “Octopus Agave” features lovely, undulating leaves that are sage-green at their center and edged prominently in golden-yellow. Specimens reach an impressive 4’x4’. While the leaf margins have tiny, but sharp serrations, the deeply furrowed leaves have soft tips, making this selection safe to plant near walkways or to feature as a stunning container plant. First introduced to the trade in 2008 by San Marcos Growers’ Randy Baldwin, its name honors the noted succulent expert Charles Glass. Like most Agaves, it takes a while to bloom (7-10 years) and the plant dies after producing a spectacular 10’ tall flowering spike. Bulbils can be harvested from this spike for future specimens. Plant in full sun to light shade inland, in fast-draining soil. Very drought tolerant and requires little care. Deer resistant.
