A hardier heirloom “Flowering Maple” from Victorian times, ‘Canary Bird’ is a big fellow, reaching 8’ high x 6’ wide but can be easily pruned to any size. Prized for its year-round bloom in USDA zones 9-10 (early Summer to frost in zone 8b), it’s a bountiful bloomer, with 3”, pendulous, bellflowers in a sweet shade of lemon yellow. Large, soft, maple-like foliage. Hummers! Loamy soil. Side-dress with compost 1-2 times a year.
