This little known Salvia species hails from the moist meadows of Argentina! Rich green, oval-shaped leaves are lightly toothed and form a bushy 3-5’ high and wide shrub with pretty, robins-egg-blue, two lipped flowers. Lavender calyxes provide a subtle contrast. The upright flowering stems thrust above the foliage in late Summer and Fall, making this an excellent way to add verticality to a woodland bed. Popular with hummingbirds and bees but likely ignored by deer. Plant in humus-rich, well-drained soil in a part sun location and water regularly. Benefits from being cut back to 3’ in Spring as soon as it starts to leaf out.
