This rare sage from Andean Ecuador (7500’-9000’) is so very handsome, you’ll wish it bloomed forever.... but wait... it does! Yes, YEAR-ROUND crazy bloom with innumerable 6-8” bloom spikes of china-blue flowers marked with white nectar guides appear on graceful upward sweeping stems. With its dense habit and attractive evergreen oval shaped leaves, it’s a favorite in my home garden ever-blooming in front of my ‘Grandmother’s Hat’ rose. It can reach 5’x4’ but I prune mine to 1-2’ tall in late Fall to keep it shorter and extra-bushy for next season. EASY and drought tolerant, just provide well-drained soil and annual side-dress of compost for ultimate bloom. Loved by hummingbirds and deer resistant. Hardiness is not yet confirmed below USDA zone 9. Great in large containers (20+ gal.).
