One tough monkey! Tolerating extreme drought, heat and neglect while still looking fabulous and attracting bees, hummers, and butterflies, this CA native Monkeyflower grows 2.5-3’ high and wide and is often found growing near the coast on rocky slopes. Makes a brilliant companion for native oaks! From Spring into Summer, it produces an abundance of pretty, pale yellow flowers. If deadheaded regularly and watered every other week or so it’ll look fabulous and flower thru Summer. However, doing so can drastically reduce its lifespan. If you want it to live as long as you (or longer), let the faded flowers stay and water sparingly or not at all during Summer once established – it may go deciduous, but that’s okay, it’s supposed to. Provide excellent drainage for a happy plant and avoid overwatering.
