Tarweed
Just another yellow daisy? Oh no, no, NO! What we have here is a pineapple scented CA native annual that blooms from mid-summer to fall (pretty darned unusual!) - just when so many native bloomers are only a memory. Countless 2” large and showy, long-rayed, red ringed, brightest yellow blooms burst into a cloud 3’ across atop 4’ multi-branching stems – quite a display! Plus, it’s an important late season nectar source for bees and butterflies. Drought tolerant, clay tolerant and self-sows reliably with each new season’s freebie volunteers thriving on only Winter rains. Deer resistant, too!
