When this absolutely marvelous NON INVASIVE “Loosestrife” goes into bloom here in our gardens, visitors go cuckoo trying to get their hands on any remaining plants for sale! With its first flush of 2’ rich claret, goosenecked spikes above silvery, blue-grey, lanceolate foliage – it’s a showstopper – attracting butterflies and hummers and providing yummy cut flowers. Bloom begins in May and continues off and on till Sept. Now here’s the trick – this beauty requires optimum drainage, so plant it at the edge of a well draining bed or in a container (at least 10 gal.) and add some compost so you’ll both be pleased. To 3’ across. Deciduous. Self-sows when happy.
