Rock Rose
Allow us to introduce to you this perennially lovely Mediterranean groundcover! Forming a low silvery 6-8” high by 3’ wide mat of grey-green foliage, it is a truly handsome sight even without its lovely spring and summer Poppy-like blooms! It’s happy in non-fertile well-draining soils, needs only low water, is evergreen (well, ever-gray), and can easily handle salt spray from seaside conditions! Perfect for cascading over a garden wall, a larger hanging baskets, the front of a bed, or filling in a hell strip. The standout clusters of 1” bright chiffony cerise colored flowers with vivid yellow stamens are magnets for hummingbirds, bees and other pollinators! Grow it in full sun with average water for the first year, then low water thereafter. Cut back strongly after the first new shoots appear in spring. Drought tolerant, but looks its best with some water in hot months.
