A semi-succulent, EVERGREEN, groundcover herb perfect for growing in dappled shade! Highly ornamental and one of the sweetest smelling plants you will ever grow. Its fleshy, fuzzy, 1-2” leaves have a unique lemony smell with undertones of oregano. They can be eaten fresh or cooked and boast a strong oregano flavor with a nice bite. The young leaves are quite potent, mellowing out as they mature. Use as you would Oregano or Sweet Marjoram – in sauces, sautes, stews, roasts, teas, etc. Reaches 10-20” high and wide with pale lavender flower spikes that appear irregularly from Fall thru Spring. Despite its common name, it’s neither an oregano nor from Cuba and actually hails from East and South Africa. Not fussy about soil but wants good drainage. Deer resistant.
