One of the first Coreopsis to bloom each year, producing beautiful butterfly attracting flowers from early Summer right thru Fall! The 1.5” wide, vivid yellow flowers with a dark red dot at the base of each petal branch out on long stems – perfect for bouquets! Deadhead regularly for best show, but leave the last round of flowers to produce seeds to feed the wee birdies. Unusually compact, ‘Sunfire’ forms a dense foliar mound about 20” tall and wide with foliage held low to the ground, making it suitable for the front of a bed or container (10 gal.+). Provide regular water the first year or two to get it established, after which it’s surprisingly drought tolerant. Protect from afternoon sun in hot, inland gardens. Prefers good drainage.
