This South African charmer is related to the popular trailing succulents String of Pearls, String of Bananas & String of Dolphins. String of Rubies has a unique characteristic that sets it apart - its finger-like leaves turn a bright ruby red when the plant responds to cooler temps or dry conditions. Best grown as a houseplant, this frost-tender member of the Aster family has that family's characteristic daisy-like yellow flowers. When blazing with full ruby colors & cascading a foot plus long, this is one of the most spectacular hanging plants for your home. It wants high intensity light to achieve the best color & it wants to go completely dry between waterings. Bone dry between waterings is best. This succulent can be grown outdoors too, as long as temperatures don't drop below freezing. Outside, plants go summer dormant & it is best to move them into some shade. Plant in succulent soil or any fast-draining soil mix. Summer flowers attract bees & butterflies. Deer resistant.
