I was never even remotely interested in Hebes before. They seemed so boring, so suburban subdivision-y & so stiff in habit to me. That is until I met this extra huge flowered species. Thrilling 3-4” chubby magenta-violet bloom clusters big enough to fill your palm appear continuously from July to November attracting all matter of pollinating friends. I love the leaves, too: large, rounded & a nice rich green held on upright branching stems. To 3' tall x 4’ wide, you see no boxy stiffness here, just a great unusual easy & evergreen addition to your garden. Happiest in composty, well-drained soil.
