A vigorous basil variety with a delectable spicy taste and superior hardiness. Lush light green foliage forms a small bush to 20” H/W. This member of the Herbalea series is known for its weather resistance and disease tolerance, making it a valuable choice for cool Summer areas. Although most will grow this variety for its exceptional flavor, plants are pretty enough to grow as ornamentals. It flowers late in the season and for those who choose to let it bloom, the burgundy flowers are highly attractive to bees. A good plant to grow in an outdoor or indoor container. Plant in full sun to light shade in fertile, well-drained soil. Water regularly. A light pruning in late Winter promotes new growth in Spring for this short-lived perennial. Grow as an annual in areas that get a freeze or bring indoors on coldest nights. Deer resistant.
