Doryanthes, popularly known as Spear Lilies, are striking plants from Queensland and New South Wales in Australia. Annie’s is one of the few nurseries to offer the Giant Spear Lily, Doryanthes palmeri, a very rare plant seldom seen outside of botanic gardens. Massive, sword-shaped leaves form clumps up to 6 feet across. In spring, mature plants send up a truly impressively tall flower spike, up to 10 feet long, covered in a parade of red flowers.
