A beaut of a fescue, Festuca mairei grows into a fountain of soft grey-green foliage to 3’ tall! Quite a giant among its Festuca brethren! It is long lived too, an admirable quality that most fescues do not posses. It is native to the Atlas Mountains of Morocco so it is quite cold hardy. Stays evergreen in warmer zones. Produces soft plume inflorescences in June. Comb out old foliage with a rake to clean up its appearance. Drought and heat tolerant once established.
