Imagine Lamb’s Ears underwent a growth spurt, producingupright felty leaves a foot tall!Welcome to the delightful world of “Wooly Mule’s Ears”, a California native found on both sides of the Sierra mountains in dry open meadows alongside other drought tolerant plants like sagebrush and juniper. Bright yellow Sunflower-like flowers appear in Summer, providing nectar to butterflies and bees. Plant as a high ground cover to add a dash of silver or feature in a container, where young and old can enjoy its velvety foliage. Tolerant of poor, sandy, rocky or clay soils, but happiest with good drainage and no Summer water once established. Can be used in dry gardens, though it needs relief from mid-day heat. Tap-rooted and long-lived once established.
