This Old Garden Rose of mysterious origins is first cited in Europe in the 1880s, but disappears from mention until "rediscovered" in 1945, growing in the Iranian provincial capital of Resht by English plantswoman Nancy Lindsay. Classified as both a Portland Rose & a Damask Perpetual, it does a big spring bloom & repeats nearly year round, especially with deadheading & periodic pruning... & what a bloom it is! Clusters of sumptuous, vibrant, deep pink pom-pom rosettes set against dense foliage, the eye-catching color draws you in for a closer look - & to smell the divinely rich damask fragrance! It’s heaven! It’s easy to see why this rose has won hundreds of awards & it surely ranks in the pantheon of the most fragrant. Vigorous & hardy to 4' tall /wide. It even tolerates poor soil, drought & grows well in partial shade!
