Long-lived and super tough this border penstemon, blooms its heart out Spring-Fall, year in, year out, with brightest claret colored blooms! Growing to 3x3’, with airy stems packed with 2.5” trumpet-shaped blossoms above shiny narrow leaves. It makes a high impact statement in the garden, and not just to we gardeners... hummingbirds, bees and butterflies adore them too! Deer, fortunately, do not! The secret to happiness and long life is simple: Sun (part sun in super hot zones) non-fertile really well draining soil and low water! Too much TLC (water and fertilizer) doesn’t suit this evergreen Penstemon. Deadhead after its first bloom to bring on their next round of blooming quickly and cut it back hard in winter.
