Grape scented! From Mexico comes this large unusual and very long-lived Penstemon bearing in Spring and Summer ¼” handsome flared purple blooms that are surprisingly scented. The flowers are held atop strong erect stems to 4' tall and the number of stems increases with age. A nice quality is that P. ‘Hidalgo’ does not require the excellent drainage of so many high altitude Penstemons and lives for many years in our temperate climate. Easy and fast. Rich soil for best performance though it does quite well in poor soil. Cut back whenever fresh growth is desired. To 2' wide.
