Perhaps the most vigorous Fynbos you can grow! This evergreen South African shrub with narrow, Eucalyptus-like leaves reaches an impressive 15’ tall and 10’ wide. Flowers appear in Winter or early Spring cradled in extra-long, brilliant chartreuse leaves that glow against the darker foliage. Plants are either male or female with the male flowers looking like fat yellow buttons and the females producing cones that turn either yellow or red and persist for years – both genders are much prized for bouquets. Often used as a screening hedge or container specimen, it becomes tree-like with age. Make sure to plant in a nice sunny spot with excellent drainage – sandy soil is preferred. Extremely drought tolerant once established.
