A beautiful, walkable groundcover that doesn’t attract bees – something that quickly becomes rather important to anyone who has dared to walk across a flowering lawn-alternative around mid-day when the bees are a-buzzin’! Grows only 2” tall and about 2’ wide with evergreen, succulent leaves that color-shift from bright green to bronzy red in cold weather, providing seasonal interest. Produces insignificant flowers in Summer. Plant at least every 1.5’ if you are using it as a groundcover, as it forms a taproot rather than a grass-like, spreading mat of roots – this means you’ll have to plant fairly densely if you want a solid covering, but you’ll be rewarded with a far more drought tolerant plant that won’t encroach into valuable planting space. Stands up well to being walked on, but not recommended for high traffic areas. Full sun for best habit. Very pretty cascading over the edge of a container (5 gal.+).
