This showy semi-deciduous tree hailing from Brazil sprouts 3-8” clusters of bright golden 3” trumpet-shaped, nectar-rich flowers, sought out by bees and hummers just before new leaves appear in April. Mature trees are smothered in flowers! These are followed by 8” fuzzy brown seed capsules, which persist on the tree thru Winter. Grows 15-25’ tall with 4” prominently veined palmate leaves, olive-green above, with undersides exhibiting a tawny fuzz. With its rounded canopy, it makes an excellent smaller-sized street or patio tree. Plant in fertile, fast-draining soil in full sun. Water thoroughly in its first season then cut back to a monthly deep watering once established.
