A beautiful, super rare, LONG-LIVED PERENNIAL, EVERGREEN Echium native to only one island in the world – tiny Fogo Island off the coast of West Africa – where it is severely threatened. Boasting one of the most beautiful habits of any Echium, it quickly forms a perfect mound, 7’ high and wide. In Spring, chubby 6” tall clusters of white blossoms with throats streaked in blue, pink and purple emerge close to the foliage – so tidy and pretty you’d never imagine it was a wild species! We’re not sure about its full hardiness range, but our 4’ high and wide two year old plant breezed thru our USDA zone 9 Winters. Provide good drainage for best health. Performs well in full sun along the coast, but may want some afternoon shade in hotter, inland gardens. Longer-lived than Echium fastuosum!
