Plant Perennials Pronto!
We're getting a jump on Spring – so can you!

We interrupt our regularly scheduled program of gorgeous gardens in bloom to show you what our demonstration beds REALLY look like this time of year. Annuals – done for the season – have been ripped out, perennials have been cut back and the beds have been top-dressed with a fluffy and nourishing 1" layer of organic grapeseed compost. Maybe it isn't glamorous now, but it will be come Spring! So what's next? Why, the fun part!

If you garden in temperate climes like ours, from now until December you can – no wait – you MUST plant biennials, perennials and even some hardy annuals in order to have a spectacular and bloomiferous garden come Spring!

Dreamy but tough, plant workhorse Roses now!

Rosa 'Golden Celebration' Rosa 'Golden Celebration'

Rosa 'Golden Celebration'
The GOLD STANDARD of roses and our absolute nursery favorite! Massive clusters of 5" super-double cupped blooms open a bright cheerful yellow come Mother's Day and keep going all the way to Fall on this exceptional David Austin shrub! Exuding a heavenly tea rose scent, it forms an attractive, dense 4' x 4' shrub with gently arching branches. To see and smell it is to love it! Hardy USDA zone 5.

Rosa ‘Grandmother’s Hat’ Rosa ‘Grandmother’s Hat’

Rosa ‘Grandmother’s Hat’
MUST-HAVE! This wildly-popular and almost impossible-to-find hybrid rose was first discovered in an abandoned garden in San Jose by the late Barbara Worl. Vigorous and easy to grow, heat and drought tolerant, disease resistant and floriferous in the extreme, it's everything you want in a rose! Blooms as early as February, keeps going intermittently all the way to Fall with a spicy scent! Hardy USDA zone 5.

One of our most romantic Spring bloomers with 2” creamy white flowers edged in a range of hues from deepest burgundy to pastel pink. No two plants in the mix are exactly the same! Gorgeous in a vase, cut flowers for days! Deer resistant, hardy USDA zone 8.

Ranunculus 'Chocolate'
Delicious 3" burgundy blooms look good enough to eat with sumptuous layered petals that swirl outwards from a black central eye. One of the best cut flowers, lasting a week or more in a vase!
Colors may vary, all are beautiful. Deer resistant! Hardy USDA zone 8.

Ranunculus 'Champagne'
With layers of crepe paper-like petals, this mix of peach, apricot, raspberry and gold blooms are reminiscent of pint-sized peonies, producing abundant large 3-5” flowers on 10" stems that keep coming all Spring. Excellent cut flower! Deer resistant! Hardy USDA zone 8.
