Freesia ‘Double Orange’ A fetching fragrant favorite, Freesia ‘Double Orange’ is a fully double flower in a luminous mandarin, kissed with a blush of rose. The scent is candy-sweet and hard to beat! Each 18-24” tall arching stem holds a bevy of flowers, with individual blooms staying open for several days. Attractive strappy foliage reaches about 1’ high & spreads over time as it multiplies year by year. Once established, the flowering season can stretch from late winter to early summer. Freesias are super easy to grow, have a surprisingly long bloom season & often naturalize where hardy. Bees & hummers seek out the nectar-rich flowers. An ideal cut flower with their oh-so-sweet fragrance quickly filling up the room. Plant in well-drained soil 2” deep & 3” apart. For zones 8b & higher, plant bulbs in the fall for a spring bloom. In colder climates, where it’s grown as an annual, plant in the spring after last frost for a late spring bloom. |
