Ranunculus
'Chocolate'

This Spring blooming bulb boasts sumptuous, burgundy blooms up to 3” across! The lovely, slightly ruffled flowers are layered with innumerable petals that swirl outwards from a black central eye. Finely cut foliage emerges in early Spring reaching 1’ high and wide topped by multiple 15” tall branching flower stalks. One of the best cut flowers, lasting a week or more in a vase! The bloom season last 4-6 weeks, deadheading will maximize the number of flowers. In zones 9 and up, plant bulbs in the Fall. In colder areas, plant in earliest Spring to avoid any deep freezes. Space bulbs 4-6” apart in well-composted, well-drained soil. Protect with organic slug bait. In areas where it’s not hardy, lift bulbs in Summer after the foliage dies back complete. Dry out bulbs thoroughly before storing. Attracts butterflies. Color may be somewhat variable.
