'Sum and Substance'

Perfect for a shady spot in need of drama! One of the easiest, fastest growing plants for shade gardens with big, glossy, tropical leaves that form a 3’ high by 5’ wide clump of chartreuse-to-gold foliage. Tall heavy blooming flower scapes (up to 3’ tall on a mature plant) create masses of dangling 1/2” lavender bell-shaped flower clusters mid-Summer to Fall, giving this showiest plant even more brilliance and worthiness. And hummingbirds love them! Requires part to deep shade (brightest foliage in more sun, deeper colors in full shade). Provide rich composty soil with regular water. Goes dormant in colder climates, but comes back bigger and better each year. Protect from slugs and snails in early Spring when new leaves are breaking dormancy.
