Iris douglasiana ‘Grisso’s Fancy’

Flashy, splashy and tough as nails!

Every year, right around this time, our beautiful Pacific Coast Irises start unfurling their luscious jewel-toned petals to the dizzying delight of all who encounter them. EVERYONE wants one!

Highly prized for their outrageous 4-5" blooms in a rainbow of colors, these hybrids can take just about anything you throw at them: shade, drought and deer don't faze them! Perfect for under oaks or in low-water gardens, these evergreen sweethearts are a superb way to spruce up that dry, shady patch. Super low-maintenance, they technically need NO SUMMER WATER once established, but will benefit from a monthly splash and will look best with a bit of clean up in the Fall. After a couple of years, your Iris fortunes will multiply and you can divide them for free plants!

Big thanks to local Iris expert and hybridizer Ryan Grisso for generously sharing these unnamed Irises with us years ago! Best to grab one while you can – we can only divide our mother plants every couple of years and now's your chance!

Perfect Companions!
