To say this selection of our California native Golden Currant will be COVERED with sunny blooms come spring is an understatement. Clusters of vanilla-scented, yellow flowers mature to an elegant golden hue. In time, this charming shrub puts on loads of amber-to-black currants that make it an excellent plant for a variety of wildlife, both when in bloom and fruit. Heck, it makes a tasty treat for humans too! This native beauty has delicate, three-lobed, light-green 2” fragrant leaves that morph into a deep red in fall, before this shrub briefly goes deciduous. An excellent foundation plant for any native or cottage garden. It will typically grow to 6’ tall and wide, but can grow larger in prime conditions — will take full sun in milder climates, but appreciates a little afternoon shade elsewhere.
