This California native, boasts foliage that is almost as pretty as its cheerful yellow flowers! Plants feature bright green palmate leaves that are prominently toothed, giving this hardy perennial a zesty pleasing appearance. Flat-topped clusters of five-petaled, bright yellow flowers appear in June and July. Each 3/4” buttercup-like flower boasts 13-20 yellow stamens and is a popular destination for bees and butterflies. Widespread throughout North America, this cinquefoil can be found in open forests, along roadsides, in grasslands and in alpine fields up to 9000' elevation. It can be employed as a high ground cover, will tough it out in a problem area yet is pretty enough to feature in a container. Plant in sun to light shade in average to fertile soil. Plants spread out via underground rhizomes and over time will colonize an area. Not invasive and generally left alone by deer.
