Penstemon roezlii
“Roezl’s Penstemon”
Beautious purple-blue .75” tubular blooms flourish late Spring through mid-Summer on dark red, fuzzy stems & if you’re lucky you may even get a late show of flowers in October. Narrow, 1-3” greyish green leaves are covered in a fine fuzz. Native to OR, NV & Northern California, it’s typically found hanging out with dry scrub & sagebrush, so it’s not high maintenance. Tolerant of most types of situations, it’s a tough plant not minding neglect. Grows to 20” x 12”, with a woody branching base. Named for Benedikt Roezl a rock star, one-handed Czech orchid collector who left his mark on the horticulture world in the mid-1800’s.
