For over 2000 years Goji berries have been used in Chinese medicinal teas to promote liver health & multitudes of other ailments (check it out on Google). A tomato family member, it actually has edible young shoots & leaves you can throw in a stir fry (don’t be trying that with your tomatoes or peppers)! Pale purple, half inch wide flowers occur June through September with berries ripening late July through October. The red berries are just under an inch long. Eat them fresh off the vine for a sweet licorice treat, or dry them to use in teas. Grows 3-6’ high by 3-10’ wide & is a multi branching sprawler. Cut back to 2’ in late Winter if less sprawl is desired. For easier berry picking, use a trellis. Moderately rich, well drained soil is best. Deciduous.
