Oenothera deltoides ssp. howellii
"Antioch Dunes Evening Primrose"

One of the rarest evening primroses in the world, only growing in the Antioch Dunes in California. The flowers open in the evening with a lovely light scent & stay open until mid morning. They are white with yellow centers, open to 1-1.5” wide & are preceded by large nodding buds that are rosy pink & very attractive. Though this evening primrose naturally grows in dune sand, it will grow in well-drained potting or garden soil as well. The habit is prostrate, 1’ tall to 1.5’ wide. It may not bloom the first year but will then bloom profusely the next year. It must be cross pollinated so plant two plants for good seed production. Most of the plants will die in their second Winter, but may live on for 3-4 years.
