Campanula glomerata
'Superba'
photo(left): David Boyd
Rarely seen in gardens around here, I love the alluring rich purple color of this upright, easy to grow “Bellflower.” Rising above a dense 4” high & 2” wide clump of long, bright green leaves in Spring, multiple sturdy upright stems to 2’ tall hold dense clusters of upward facing 2” flaring bells that hummingbirds, butterflies & bees adore & are superb for cutting! Swoonful! Blooming lasts at least a month, then cut the stems down to the foliage for a repeat bloom in Summer. Yay! Rich well drained soil for best performance. Once established it will produce a huge number of blooming stems each year. Inlanders should plant this one in bright shade.
