Ideal for both snacking & edging a garden pathway, “Alpine Strawberries” are hardy, easy to grow, & so very rewarding. Fragaria vesca hardly ever goes dormant here in Zone 9, & as such is almost perpetually in fruit & flower. ‘Improved Rugen’ promises larger-than-average fruit & very few, very short runners, so you won’t have to worry about it running amok. The only challenge in growing this plant is keeping the fruit away from visitors’ wandering hands! There never seems to be enough to share, you know? Grows 1’x1’, with 1” sweet red fruits.
