Fuchsia boliviana

You may be familiar with the ‘Alba’ form of this wonderful species of Fuchsia that can form quite a large shrub under suitable conditions – this is the original undoctored red form – gorgeous in its own right. Grows up to 6’ -definitely taller than it is broad, you can pinch the tips for bushier growth & cut it back hard to promote fresh re-growth. Flowers hang in long pendulous clusters – over a foot long if you let them keep going & bloom in Summer. Also, as our mailorder specialist Lisa Beebout’s 15-year-old dog Boo Boo can attest, the berries are a delicious gourmet bonus. “He’s crazy about them,” she says. “They’re all he thinks about.” We’re nuts about the beautiful red flowers, too!
