Iris douglasiana ‘Light Lavender/Blue’

Iris douglasiana Light Lavender Iris douglasiana Light Lavender

This is a lovely Douglas iris that I received some years ago from a garden in the Oakland Hills. It has true wildflower charm & looks fabulous in a semi-shady spot. Some of the other Pacific iris hybrids can look out of place when mixed with other California natives, but this one looks like the real thing. It is very floriferous & will make an attractive mass of delicate foliage without any maintenance, but the flowering will decrease over the years. To maximize flowering, divide every 3 years. In the Bay Area, the best time for the division is in December when the irises have started to make new roots. Sunset zones 4-9, 14-24. To 1' high & 3-4' wide.
