‘Carman’s/Carmen's Gray’
“Blue Rush”
A fun little hard to find grass (or rush), ‘Carman’s Gray’ grows to only 1’-2’ tall with stiff, vertical & spikey bluish grey leafless stems. Named after Ed Carman who had a famous nursery in Los Gatos. John Greenlee named it in Ed’s honor many years ago, so many years ago that “Carman’s Gray” became “Carmen’s Gray”. To only 2’ across, it’s a nicely behaved little rush, great for making a cute little “vertical statement”. Well worth growing for its unusual color. Likes average-wet soil & can grow in shallow standing water. Excellent & entertaining in a container too.
California Native.
