| Salvia gesneriiflora ‘Tequila’
photo:(left)Karl Gercens III
This heavily blooming Salvia from Mexico is gorgeous in bloom! The 16” long flower spikes appear in late Summer & continue through Winter, covering the plant with flowers. The blooms are red-orange with rich maroony-black calyxes. Give this one plenty of room as it grows to 10’ tall & wide. Protect from strong winds. This Salvia also needs a little bit more moisture than others & isn’t drought tolerant. Hardy to 20 degrees F but not ideal for zones below 9b since freezes would knock it back just as it is at the height of its bloom. Hummingbird magnet!
