Euphorbia atropurpurea
photo:(left) Klaus (right) Leif Stridvall
Way cool deep burgundy blooms in loose bunches pop against the grey-blue foliage on this crazy, crazy RARE Canary Island native. A large shrub, the bloomfest begins in Winter lasting through early-Spring. I freaked out when one of the propagators let me take one home several months ago - it’s that rare. Growing to 3-5’ tall & wide it, makes a great focal point & is easy to please. Drought tolerant & deer resistant! Hands down one of the most awesome Euphorbias in my book. Euphorbia sap is toxic & may irritate skin, so be careful when pruning.
