| Aloe castanea
“Cat’s Tail Aloe”

A branching tree Aloe that grows to 12’ tall. The blooms
are an unusual color – a dark orange-brown and the stalk
is slightly undulating, hence the common name “Cat’s
Tail Aloe”. It blooms in Winter. This Aloe is drought
tolerant but it blooms better if given some water in the Summer,
but it does need good drainage. Also, surprisingly, this Aloe
prefers rich soil. Adding a layer of compost every year is
a good thing. From South Africa.
