| Campanula lactiflora
“Milky Bellflower”

My idea of heaven is a garden large enough to grow plenty of Campanula lactiflora! Long lived, spectacular & so very romantic, it must be grown in rich composty soil to make it look like this. To 5’ tall & 3’ across, it begins blooming in mid-late Summer bursting into a mass of 1.5” scented, clear periwinkle-blue flaring bells held in large conical spires. Cut back to 1’ tall in May to keep it upright & super bushy. Looks especially cottagey-wonderful with bloom-at-the-same-time perennial yellow Hollyhock, Alcea rugosa. Tolerates some shade. Edible flowers can be used in salads. Deciduous.
