| Impatiens
sodenii
(syn. oliveri)
‘Zanzibar’
To 4’ tall, perennial & almost ever blooming, this rare variety
of Impatiens oliveri comes to us from the amazing “Mr. Impatiens”
Derick Pitman. Large (3” across) & lovely, lavender blushed
blooms are sweetly decorated with magenta markings around the throat.
Impatiens oliveri usually grows 3’ to 4’ tall, with strongly
multi-branching, semi-succulent stems. It is frost tender (30 degrees
F), so it’s best grown (as a perennial) in USDA zones 10-11 &
will bounce back from the roots if frost damaged. Grow it in morning sun
or bright shade in rich, composted soil. Pollinated by hummingbirds &
moths. Self-sows!
