Aeonium nobile

Aeonium nobile Aeonium nobile

The most thrilling succulent you’ll probably ever grow! Endemic to the Canary Islands, it’s easy, drought tolerant & in bloom it reaches 30” tall, with a mind-blowing bright red flower head 18” across! A sight to behold, it’s made up of thousands of densely packed starry flowers on an unbranched stem. Even before it blooms in its second year, it makes a lovely foliar rosette with thick-leaved olive-emerald petals highlighted by rosey-pink edges. It’s monocarpic, so after blooming it will pass into the great beyond, but not before giving up 1,000’s of seeds that germinate readily. Loves excellent drainage, so best in rock or succulent gardens & totally awesome in a patio container (5-10 gal.)!
