Dianthus plumarius
‘Rose de Mai’

Dianthus plumarius ‘Rose de Mai’ Dianthus plumarius ‘Rose de Mai’

This is the first Dianthus to bloom in the Spring, often as early as March. The flowers are pink, double & intensely clove scented. Its true distinction lays in its tolerance for clay soil. Most of the other old-fashioned gillyflowers hang in there for a couple of years then die. They really need good drainage & prefer raised beds or pots. My present plant has been in its place for seven years, has never been watered & is still going strong. I highly recommend it! To 20" x 15".
